Barbara Peeler was named Teacher of the Year at C.B. Greer Elementary School. She has taught first grade.

Family: In December, my husband Jack and I will celebrate 34 years of marriage. We have 4 children. Our oldest, J.R. is 30, married and living in Dallas, GA. Michaela is 25 and is an Occupational Therapist with the Glynn County Schools, Elisabeth is 21 and is a first-grade teacher with the Glynn County Schools. Our youngest, Kaiden, is a Junior in high school.
Who is your role model? My role model is my dad, John Lambert. He was abandoned at the age of 10 and grew up in an orphanage in Florida. He put himself through college to become a teacher and taught middle and high school for 34 years. He loved my mom, he loved his daughters, he loved teaching, and he loved his students. He taught me that life is to be lived and enjoyed, no matter what the circumstances.
What book has most influenced you? The Bible. Everything you need to know is in there.
What is your greatest teaching memory? One of my favorite teaching memories is the day I learned that first graders are very literal thinkers! Students were voting for the Golden Rule Winner for our class, and I instructed them that they must write the student’s name that they are nominating, and they must also write why they are nominating that student. I repeated the directions several times, saying, “Don’t forget to write why.” Well, my students complied with my request, and I received several votes with a student’s name and a big “Y” on their card. They did what I said!
What is your favorite quote or personal motto? A quote from my dad, “Get up and get moving and you’ll feel better.” Sometimes it’s hard to get started, but once you do, things get better.
What is a fact about you that most people don't know? I was a Legal Secretary in a previous career.
Any hidden talents or hobbies? I love to sew! I made my own wedding dress and all the bridesmaids dresses for my wedding.
