Glynn County Association of Educators (GCAE) sponsored the 2023 Glynn County Spelling Bee on January 23. Students from Glynn County’s 14 elementary and middle schools competed for the rights to represent Glynn County at the Region 8 spelling bee.
The winner of this year’s bee is Kara Nuque, a fifth-grader at C.B. Greer Elementary School. (Last year, she was the alternate to her older sister, Kara, who was the 2021 and 2022 Glynn County Spelling Bee winner). Layla Victor, a fourth-grader at Golden Isles Elementary School, will serve as the alternate.
The winning word was affluent.
NOTE: The Region 8 District Spelling Bee will be held on Feb. 25, followed by the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) State Spelling Bee on March 17.
