READ 180
Mrs. Thomas teaches three 60-minute Reading Intervention classes each day: a third-grade class, a fourth-grade class, and a fifth-grade class. Student placement in the class is determined by scores on a Scholastic Reading Growth Placement Assessment.
The class size is limited to 18. Mrs. Thomas begins and ends each class session with whole group instruction. The middle segments consist of a three-station rotation during which students pursue independent reading, small group instruction with the teacher, and independent work with the READ 180 software. The program aims to foster student growth in reading achievement using technology data, Lexile measures, and differentiation.
Mrs. Thomas also teaches 2 Math intervention classes using the Georgia Numeracy Project Curriculum for 4th and 5th Grade students.
